Making a cake for school, ideas?

Im making a cake for my science cl tonight, for a biome project we are doing. I have no idea how to make this cake look like the Arctic regions! (antarctica, arctic circle) what should i do? use cotton to make it look like snow? but then how do people eat it? maye something else, like cupcakes? HELP!
