Does anyone else burp a lot when they have a sore throat and try to sleep?

whenever i first get a cold, this happens. the moment i lie down, i start getting burps in my throat that won't go away no matter what. i can't sleep, this is driving me nuts. it happens every time, and i've never heard of it with anyone else!! please tell me there's someone else out there who can sympathize!
